HUNGARY鈥橲 new government has said that it is willing to allow patents
on new inventions in several technological fields traditionally exempt from
patenting in socialist societies, such as new chemicals, pharmaceuticals
and food products. The move could be a first step towards joining the Munich-based
European Patent Convention.
According to officials at the European Patent Office, one of the main
problems to be overcome is the current ban which many socialist countries
impose on patents for certain innovations considered to be of special social
importance.
