The court of the University of London has decided that its national
supercomputer centre should be shut down if the government鈥檚 Computer Board
does not improve its offer of funding (see This Week, 20 October).
The court accepted that the centre should be run as part of the university鈥檚
own computer services. It asked the university鈥檚 principal, Peter Halwell,
to try to renegotiate the deal.
