Review : Body art

Art or science? The confusion starts with the frontispiece of William Ewing’s
Inside Information (Thames & Hudson/ Simon & Schuster,
£12.95/$23, ISBN 0 500 27881 4), which shows a wonderfully gaudy
picture that turns out to a magnetic resonance image of a man eating a plum. The
collection of images take us through the body, using many different techniques.
Blood cells are obvious, but the spleen looks like art at its purest.
