Up to speed on paradeath and angelology? Read Critical Reflections on the
Paranormal (State University of New York Press, $19.95, ISBN 0 7914 3064
2) edited by Michael Stoeber and Hugo Meynell for an introduction to such
matters. Its nine sections contain prolix arguments for the paranormal and
complain about sceptical bias, but on the whole seem to accept that paranormal
claims should be objectively assessed. Some of the anecdotal evidence, however,
doesn鈥檛 tally with this reasonable conclusion. Stoeber鈥檚 long introduction is
exhausting.
