THE Earth Centre, a 拢120-million project to create a 鈥済reen expo鈥
on an abandoned Yorkshire coalfield, is in disarray following a decision by
merchant bankers Hambros to pull out.
Hambros has headed a consortium of five banks trying to raise 拢50
million for the project. This would have released matching funds from the
Millennium Commission, which distributes National Lottery cash.
鈥淎lmost a year has been lost from the original schedule,鈥 says Stuart Robins
of Hambros.
