A TOTAL of 拢17 million has been allocated to two British research
councils for a three-year study of the implications of mad cow disease and
related diseases for human health.
This is 鈥渙ne of the most strategically important and scientifically
challenging areas in science today鈥, says Ray Baker, chief executive of the
Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, which will share the
money with the Medical Research Council. The extra money was part of the science
budget allocation, announced last week.
