HOSPITAL food in the land of p芒t茅 de foie gras and escargots
is so poor that patients face malnutrition, a study in France has found.
鈥淓very hospitalised patient is at risk, even if he is not undernourished on
arrival,鈥 notes nutritionist Bernard Guy-Grande of the H么tel Dieu hospital
in Paris in a report commissioned by the health ministry.
Guy-Grande鈥檚 team evaluated meals at roughly one in ten of the country鈥檚 city
hospitals. Nearly a third did not always consider nutrition when planning menus.
Food was also often served at the wrong temperature and outside patients鈥 normal
meal times.
