The British government is to pump 拢10 million into developing a
high-tech car that will be kinder to the environment. The vehicle will exploit
cleaner fuels or battery power and lightweight materials.
Geoff Callow, chief scientist of the Motor Industry Research Association near
Nuneaton in Warwickshire, says that the idea is to develop a vehicle for 2020,
鈥渨hen the car might not have the dominance it has now鈥�. If people move to using
trains for longer journeys, for instance, battery-powered cars would become a
realistic option.
