The German government has blocked the sale of a 鈥渢wo-minute HIV test鈥, the
first ever intended for use at home. Its manufacturer, NOHIV, based near
Frankfurt, says the kit is about as simple to use as a home pregnancy test and
as reliable as current laboratory tests for HIV. But the Federal Office for
Vaccines says it is concerned that people would be diagnosing themselves without
medical counselling.
