Pigs and chickens in Britain will no longer have to live like cannibals.
Agriculture minister Jack Cunningham has decided to act on the advice of experts
on BSE and other prion diseases. He is to ban 鈥渟ame species feeding鈥� in order to
avoid a repeat of mad cow disease in other livestock.
Pigs and chickens might also be susceptible to prion disease, Cunningham鈥檚
advisers have warned, and so could in theory catch the brain-wasting conditions
from contaminated offal.
