Thousands of British schoolchildren risk developing chronic back pain,
headaches and hand injuries through the overuse of computers, warns a new
campaign group. The Body Action Campaign, launched this week, is calling for
research to determine the scale of computer-related repetitive strain injury in
schools.
鈥淭here are absolutely no facts or figures on this at the moment,鈥� says Tess
Honan, one of the group鈥檚 founders. In straw polls at two British schools, as
many as 40 per cent of pupils reported problems ranging from neckache and
backache to numbness in their fingers.
