Months after even the US administration accepted that emissions of greenhouse
gases are changing the world鈥檚 climate, America鈥檚 leading society of
climatologists, oceanographers and geophysicists has officially come to the same
conclusion.
In a draft statement posted on the Internet last week, the American
Geophysical Union (AGU) warns that continued emissions 鈥渁re likely to cause
increases in global mean temperature, rising sea levels and other substantial
climate change鈥�. The AGU urges governments to 鈥渄evelop and implement strategies
for substantially limiting emissions鈥�.
