A virtual personal assistant that can make phone calls and appointments for
people on the move has been created by the Californian company General Magic.
The virtual PA, which is called Serengeti, will respond to spoken
instructions, keep a diary and process e-mail and messages. The virtual PA will
be accessible over the Web. 鈥淲e believe it will act as `the voice of the
network鈥 much like a graphical user interface acts as the `face鈥 of the personal
computer,鈥 says Steve Markham, president of General Magic.
