Teething problems

Babies will suffer no harm from chewing toys containing phthalate softeners,
according to research from the National Institute of Public Health and the
Environment in Bilthoven, the Netherlands.

After observing how long babies spend chewing on their toys, the Dutch team
concludes that most infants get only 14 per cent of the safe daily dose.
Greenpeace, however, still maintains that there is no safe level of phthalates
for babies.
