Gavriel and Coral Menashrov of Canoga Park, California, have a great way to
liven up boring party drinks (WO 98/55799). Their wine glass has a
light-emitting diode moulded into the stem just below the bowl so the light
casts an eerie glow up through the glass and into its contents. Powered by a
button-sized battery under the base, the LED is turned on either by a
microswitch on the stem, by lifting the glass off a table to release a
spring-loaded trigger, or simply by topping the glass up with more drink. Either
way, your Chianti will look like a magic potion, in the best Jekyll and Hyde
tradition.
