Enter the e-police

A team of code-cracking crime fighters will be set up in Britain to help
police catch criminals using the Internet and e-mail. The Technical Assistance
Centre will give law enforcement agencies access to encryption experts around
the clock. Where police officers have a judicial warrant, the team will use
electronic keys to decrypt files and hard drives. The move is prompted by
growing fears that terrorists, paedophiles and other criminals are using
encryption software to conceal incriminating evidence.
