Conventional car security systems are too easy to foil, says Lowloc of
Leicestershire. The company is patenting a locking system that it claims is
tougher to crack (GB 2 327 924). The accelerator and brake pedals are clamped
between two cover plates鈥攁 bit like the jaws of a mantrap鈥攁nd
secured by a lock, denying a thief access to the pedals. The rightful owner
unlocks the jaws and swings the top jaw to one side so that it lies parallel to
the pedals, leaving them free for driving.
