opened a fine bag of science paperbacks. The loot from Oxford includes John
Maynard Smith and Eors Szathmary on The Origins of Life, John Holland’s

as well as Enrico Coen on genes and Susan Blackmore on memes. Penguin relaunches
a modern classics list repackaged in wild and elegant covers. Take your pick

and white), Paul Davies (the Universe, baby blue), Richard Feynman (everything,
neon), Jack Cohen and Ian Stewart (simplicity, bright yellow)—and more.
