No wrinkles, no migraines

SMOOTHING out a wrinkly forehead may relieve migraines, says plastic surgeon
Bahman Guyuron of Cleveland, Ohio. He was intrigued when a patient who had
undergone 鈥渇orehead rejuvenation鈥 reported that her migraines had stopped. When
he checked on previous patients, he found that 31 of the 39 who鈥檇 suffered
migraines had experienced complete or significant relief.

Guyuron thinks tension in the muscle between the eyebrows, which is removed
during surgery, may trigger migraines. Further studies suggest about 80 per cent
of 鈥渕igraineurs鈥 benefit, he says. 鈥淲e鈥檒l face a fair amount of scepticism.鈥 But
unlike drugs, the surgery has few side effects, he points out. 鈥淓xcept that when
you鈥檙e angry, you can鈥檛 create those lines between your eyebrows.鈥
