DAVID More鈥檚 illustrations astonish by their beauty and detail. Owen Johnson provides the steps to identifying trees in Britain and non-Mediterranean Europe.
Tree watching, the authors say, is an engrossing but under-subscribed hobby. This guide should make it more popular. Britain鈥檚 trees, for example, are far more varied than many realise. The service tree, or 鈥渃hequers鈥�, has berries that taste like dates, from which you can make an alcoholic drink 鈥� hence the pub name. There鈥檚 lots more odd, interesting information here.
