Isn鈥檛 it annoying when you hear about an amazing TV programme after it鈥檚 been broadcast? You can set ordinary video recorders to record shows in advance, but if you miss one in your TV guide, or forget, it鈥檚 too late. Now the BBC鈥檚 research and development laboratory has developed a prototype personal video recorder called Promise TV that simply records every programme on every channel. The experimental device has several hard drives and can hold 3.2 terabytes of video.
A 鈥渇emale鈥� robot has staked its claim to be the most human-looking android yet. Repliee Q1, designed by Hiroshi Ishiguru of Osaka University, Japan, has a network of sensors and motors in its upper body to allow it to move and act like a human. Powered by an air compressor, it can turn, speak, flutter its eyelids and even appear to breathe.
