This is the premise of Richard Cox鈥檚 The God Particle, a novel in which the lives of three people 鈥� a particle physicist, a reporter and a man who鈥檚 incurred a mysterious brain injury 鈥� unwittingly intertwine. In the middle of it all is the Higgs boson, aka the 鈥淕od particle鈥�. Cox writes with a decent understanding of physics mixed with dramatic fantasy. The plot is often silly but makes for good summer reading if you prefer your conspiracy, sex and murder with a side order of particle physics.
