JVC鈥檚 Near Speaker Surround system will let people living in thin-walled apartments feel as if they are playing their DVDs really loud, except they won鈥檛 upset the neighbours. DVD video is fed soundlessly to the TV, while surround sound audio feeds a twin speaker box placed in front of the sofa. Clever phase and volume shifting fools the listener into thinking the music is twice as loud as it really is.
