Can anyone explain why a tree would twist itself almost to destruction in the way this one has (see Photo). It is located at 900 metres above sea level at the north entrance to in California. Obviously this isn鈥檛 an area where there is 24-hour sunlight, which might induce it to chase itself all the way around, yet it appears twisted through three complete rotations.
