Why does the sound of running water increase the urge to urinate? Is this unique to humans?
• When I was looking after horses and I wished to encourage a horse to urinate, I either hissed through my teeth or moved the straw bedding around to mimic the sound of water, and it nearly always worked.
Also, in a group of horses if one of them urinates, then several others will do the same, usually to the amusement of their riders.
