Top tip: feng shui your interview

Before you go in, take some deep breaths and remind yourself that employers are not trying to catch you out. They are simply trying to employ the brightest and best graduates for their organisations.

Consider making like a Zen grand master, says Vishanti Fox, careers manager at the Institute of Physics, who is a fan of the TAO (Task, Action, Outcome) approach to answering those 鈥淭ell me about a time when鈥︹ questions. 鈥淚t sounds like a feng shui practice, but this will be your silver bullet because it will give you the focus you need to succinctly answer the questions without missing out any key points.鈥

For each question, briefly describe the task you want to use as an example, then talk about how you went about doing it 鈥 remembering to focus on your role rather than the group鈥檚 role 鈥 and finally summarise the outcome.
