Atlas shrugged
Some took it as a sign that the robot uprising is a step closer. Google-owned robotics company Boston Dynamics has released footage of Atlas, its new humanoid robot. In the video Atlas walks over uneven and slippery terrain 鈥 and calmly takes a beating from a human with a hockey stick.

AI hits the books
Like every good student, Facebook鈥檚 artificial intelligence is a diligent reader. Last week, the company released the list of books it is using to train its neural networks. It includes more than 100 children鈥檚 classics, including The Jungle Book, Little Women and Alice鈥檚 Adventures in Wonderland. After being trained on a sample of books, the AI was able to fill in missing words in sentences taken from books it hadn鈥檛 read using just the preceding few lines as context.
