has about 3500 wind turbines in service and that they contribute about 2
per cent of the electricity requirement’. He says he is appalled by the
damage to visual sensitivity these cause for such a ‘pathetic gain’ (Letters,
20 February).

I have been going to Denmark every year recently and consequently have
seen quite a few of these modern windmills. Actually, they strike me as
being every bit as pleasing to the eye as the old windmills, whether, as
they usually are, placed singly in farmyards or whether placed in awesome
double ranks on a jetty.

I suggest that your reader takes a quick trip to Denmark and then tells
us what he thinks once he has actually seen the windmills.
