Manuela Callari

Bio

Manuela Callari is a freelance science writer covering science, health and the environment. She has a BS and an MS in materials science from the University of Milan-Bicocca, Italy, a PhD in medical science from Western Sydney University and a PGCert in science communication from the National Australian University. She has been a freelance writer since 2020. Her work has been published by outlets including MIT Technology Review, Smithsonian, The Guardian, Medscape and others. In 2021, she won the Australasian Medical Writers Association Early Career Award for her article on how people with chronic pain dealt with lockdowns caused by the covid-19 pandemic, which was published in The Saturday Paper.
