While travelling through the Australian outback in Queensland, we noticed that the AM radio reception was markedly different depending on the colour of the sealed road surface. Power lines running parallel to the road created interference, but this was much worse when driving on a darker grey chip seal. Why would this be? We wondered if it was colour, texture or something else that was making the difference.
