Locally extinct brushtail possums reintroduced in Western Australia

Last month, 39 brushtail possums were reintroduced to the Mount Gibson Wildlife Sanctuary in Western Australia, an area where they have been locally extinct since the early twentieth century. Of these, 19 were released outside of the sanctuary鈥檚 predator-proof fence, which surrounds a 7,800-hectare area that is free of foxes and feral cats within the wider 132,000-hectare sanctuary.
